Verbs conjugated like nākt
nākt,
Etymology
Akin with Lithuanian nókti (“to become ready, ripe, (dial.) to go, to follow, to chase, to compete”). The source of this Baltic word is unclear. One suggestion is that it might be related to Gothic 𐌽𐌴𐍈 (nēƕ, “near, close”), Old High German nāh, German nah. If this suggestion is correct, then the original meaning of nākt would be “to approach, to come closer.”
