Etymology

From Old Norse krukka, from Proto-Germanic *krogu (“pot, pitcher”), of uncertain origin. Possibly from a Proto-Indo-European root shared with Old Armenian կարաս (karas, “pitcher, large jar”), Ancient Greek κρωσσός (krōssós, “pitcher”), but the phonetics are problematic. Also compare Old Irish croiccenn (“skin”). See: Old Norse Nouns 'krukka', Ancient Greek Nouns 'κρωσσός'.
