Etymology

From Dutch morgen and German Morgen, both literally "morning", probably originally indicated the amount of land that can be ploughed by a team of oxen in a morning. Doublet of morn and morrow. See: Dutch Nouns 'morgen', German Nouns 'Morgen'.
