Creole languages: Sranantongo

Sranan(tongo) is a creole language that emerged as communication language between European immigrants, African immigrants and the native Indians. It contains elements from English, Portuguese, Dutch, and influences from African and Indian languages. The language was used from around 1700. About 120,000 persons speak it as the first language.
